Sunday 20th January. Lillian and I met Prossy and John, two of the students from 2017 for lunch. We had a good catching up session over an extended lunch. We made our plans to travel to John’s village situated near Budaka.
Monday 21st. We visited the local ‘engineering’ area of Mbale and brought nuts, bolts, washers and wood screws. Next we took a taxi, which in realty is a Toyota mini bus licensed to carry 14 passengers. It’s amazing to see how many people over that number that they can squeeze, or perhaps crush in. It is the cheapest form of travel over a distance, our journey to Budaka took about 30 minutes and cost 6,000 Ugandan Shillings, less than £2.
